Full Mouth Rehabilitation

Full Mouth Rehabilitation, also known as full mouth reconstruction or full mouth restoration, is a comprehensive and highly specialized dental treatment that aims to restore not only the aesthetics but also the health and function of all the teeth in both the upper (maxillary) and lower (mandibular) arches.

This extensive dental procedure is typically undertaken when a patient's oral health is compromised due to various factors, such as extensive tooth decay, gum disease, trauma, malocclusion (misalignment of the teeth), or a combination of these issues.

Initial Evaluation:The first step in the process involves a comprehensive assessment of the patient's oral health. This includes a thorough examination, taking X-rays, photographs, and impressions of the teeth. We use D-fine 3D digital colored Scannerfor recording 3D models

Additionally, digital technologies, such as CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing), can be employed to create precise 3D models of the patient's teeth, aiding in treatment planning.

Diagnosis: A detailed diagnosis is essential to identify and understand the specific issues that need to be addressed. This may include issues like tooth decay, periodontal disease, bite, problems, worn teeth

and more. In some cases, the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and jaw alignment may also be assessed using a Face Bow

Treatment Planning: Once the diagnosis is complete, a comprehensive treatment plan is developed. This plan takes into account the patient's unique needs, desires, and the specific dental issues and other issues like Snoring, Bruxism that need to be resolved. It includes detailed discussions with the patient about the goals and outcomes of the treatment.

Aesthetics and Function: Full mouth rehabilitation not only focuses on restoring oral health but also on enhancing the aesthetics of the smile. We work to achieve a balance between aesthetics and function, ensuring that the teeth not only look good but also function properly for chewing and speaking with so ever quality of Crown is chosen. Usually, higher end crowns can have better wow factors and high aesthetic effect due to its optical properties.

Digital Design: As mentioned, CAD/CAM technology plays a crucial role in designing the placement of teeth, ensuring they fit precisely and function well. Digital design allows for greater precision and customization, which can lead to better long-term outcomes. Here I wish to emphasize upon the reader that each tooth has its unique anatomical carving

And the functional contact points need to be precise. Please note that“teeth do not meet flat but only at a single point contact”. If they are worn out and meet flat excessive forces are created on TMJ, Muscles of mastication and on the alveolar bone supporting the teeth.

Follow-Up and Maintenance:Once the treatment is complete, regular follow-up appointments are necessary to monitor the results and make any necessary adjustments. Maintaining good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups are crucial for the long-term success of full mouth rehabilitation.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation is a complex and highly customized procedure that requires the expertise and skills. The process can take several months to complete, but the results can be truly transformative, not only in terms of oral health but also in the patient's confidence and quality of life. It's important to consult with a qualified and experienced dental professional to determine if full mouth rehabilitation is the right solution for your specific dental needs.
